Bridgestone was established in 1931 in Kurume, Japan. Today, 90 years later, Bridgestone has grown into a global conglomerate with around 140,000 employees developing its business in more than 150 countries and regions worldwide.
Bridgestone founder Shojiro Ishibashi believed strongly that a business that contributes to its society and country will be forever profitable. This conviction coincides with the concept of sustainability that is being advocated today. In 1968, Bridgestone defined its corporate mission as “Serving Society with Superior Quality.” This mission continues to form the cornerstone of our corporate philosophy as it lives on in Bridgestone’s DNA.
