Bridgestone Announces Opening Ceremony for New Plant that Manufactures Anti-Vibration Rubber Products for Automobiles in Indonesia
TOKYO (September 23, 2016) - Bridgestone Corporation (Bridgestone) today announced that subsidiary PT. Bridgestone Astra Indonesia (BSAI) held a grand opening ceremony for its new manufacturing plant in Purwakarta, Jawa Barat, Indonesia.
BSAI was established in August 2015 as a joint venture between Bridgestone and PT Astra Otoparts Tbk (Astra Otoparts). Its new plant manufactures anti-vibration rubber products that are fitted on an automobile's engine and suspension. These products contribute to reducing vehicular sound and increasing riding comfort by controlling noise and vibration. Currently, BSAI supplies completed vehicle manufacturers in Indonesia, with considering exporting throughout the ASEAN region in the future.
With the addition of the BSAI manufacturing plant, the Bridgestone Group now has eight facilities in six countries for the manufacturing of anti-vibration rubber products for automobiles, further establishing its competitive position in the anti-vibration rubber products industry for automobiles in Indonesia. The BSAI plant will allow Bridgestone to expand production lines and improve product quality in Indonesia. In addition, the new Indonesia plant will afford Bridgestone the opportunity in introduce new technologies, and leverage both its global network for raw material procurement and Astra Otoparts' Indonesian supply chain.
