Tokyo (March 28, 2017) - Bridgestone Corporation (Bridgestone) today announced that it has decided to increase price for tires in Japan.
Since last year, prices of tire materials, such as natural rubber, the main material used in tires, synthetic rubber and other petrochemical materials, have continued to rise.
Bridgestone has been working on absorbing impacts of rising tire material prices through productivity improvements, cost reductions, and other measures. However, it was determined that it would be difficult to absorb the impacts through the company’s efforts alone, leading us to make the decision to raise price for tires for the Japan domestic market.
Details regarding the price increase are as follows.
