Bridgestone to Release Sustainability Report 2016

Tokyo (June 26, 2017) - Bridgestone Corporation (Bridgestone) today announced the release of the Bridgestone Group's Sustainability Report 2016.

This report features the Group’s refined global corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitment, “Our Way to Serve,” and shares an overview, background of the launch and descriptions of the three Priority Areas: Mobility, People and Environment, as well as Management Fundamentals. With changes in the global sustainable marketplace, the Group clarifies social and environmental material issues it seeks to address and shares some of the initiatives it is undertaking to address those issues. For example, the Group articulates medium-term targets for 2020 as part of the Environmental Priority Areas and outlines achievements in 2016.

- 28.5% reduction in water intake per unit (compared to 2005)
- 31% improvement in resource productivity (compared to 2005)
- 29% reduction in CO2 emissions per net sales from operations and products’ after-use (compared to 2005)
- 13% reduction in tire-rolling resistance (compared to 2005)

This report also introduces values generated by the Group in the Priority Areas. “While Bridgestone has always used innovation to develop a wide range of products and services, going forward we intend to develop and offer solution businesses that can address social issues while fulfilling customer expectations,” Masaaki Tsuya, Member of the Board, CEO and Representative Executive Officer, Bridgestone Corporation, commented in the report. “The result is a high quality, high innovation benefit for our customers, a positive impact on society, and the recognition by our customers that Bridgestone is a trusted solutions provider.”
