Tokyo (January 28, 2025) - Bridgestone Corporation (Bridgestone) today announced that it will supply BATTLAX RACING STREET RS11 as original equipment for the new Supersport model YZF-R9 released by Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. BATTLAX RACING STREET RS11 tires will be supplied for use on motorcycles sold in Japan and Europe.
The new YZF-R9 is a premium Supersport model that combines the highest excitement and accessibility, regardless of skill or stage, within the strongest track performance in its class. The YZF-R9 was developed under the concept of "Re-DNAed Supersport." In terms of styling, it inherits the distinctiveness of the YZF-R series while pursuing a new functional beauty that enhances aerodynamics. It also evolves the traditional Yamaha sense of unity between rider and machine, making it stronger both dynamically and statically.*1
Through long-term tire co-creation development with Yamaha, Bridgestone continues to support the company by delivering value in its wide range of motorcycles. BATTLAX RACING STREET RS11 tires for the YZF-R9 are "Dan-Totsu"*2 products that apply technologies cultivated through motorsports activities to commercial products. These tires adopt pattern designs that enhance contact patch rigidity and optimize the tread's rigidity balance, increasing the contact area when the motorcycle is leaned over. This achieves high cornering grip performance and sharp handling, especially in dry conditions, pursuing sporty and dynamic performance on public roads. Through these "Dan-Totsu" products, Bridgestone contributes to the performance of the new YZF-R9.
Using racing as a "mobile laboratory," Bridgestone will refine technology in extreme conditions, evolving and connecting this innovation to the development of replacement tires for the future under the concept "From Circuit to Street." Through motorsports activities, Bridgestone is continuously evolving its "Dan-Totsu" products and strengthening its global premium niche strategy in the motorcycle tire business. Additionally, Bridgestone is committed to supporting the development of a safe and enjoyable motorcycling culture, offering peace of mind. Through these efforts, the company strives to achieve the corporate commitment of "Emotion: Committed to inspiring excitement and spreading joy to the world of mobility" described in the "Bridgestone E8 Commitment"*3 and to provide "Riding Excitement" in 10 years, 20 years and the decades to come.
