Darwin is just 12 degrees south of the equator - firmly in the tropics. The capital city of the Northern Territory, approximately 60% of the Territory’s population resides here.
Although it has strong roots in Aboriginal culture, there are also signs of Asian culture as it is the closest city in the country to Asia. These factors make Darwin a multicultural city.
Scrutineering and welcome BBQ event both take place here.

Severe conditions throughout the race

Teams must accomplish their journey through various severe conditions.
Heat and dust during the day, decrease in temperature after the sunset.
The critical hazards of wild animals might also be a crisis to teams.
Teams may come across livestock as well as Australian native animals along the way.

Control Stops

Teams must stop at designated control stops along the route. After configuring the car, teams can charge the solar energy for 30 minutes.

Adelaide is known for its wine production. Barossa Valley, famous for its luxurious wine and local cuisine, is just an hour away by car. Visitors can see some of the 150 wineries and cellar doors, drive the food & wine trails or cycle through the countryside.
Both the Ceremonial Parade and Awards Ceremony are held here.
